“When I start a painting, I will often have a vision in mind of what I am hoping to produce yet, more often than not, the end product will look vastly different from my original vision.”
A painter since 1950, inspired by Monet’s Girl With a Watering Can, National Gallery of art, I paint what I feel, with A flair.
I love to find and photograph that elusive image that is gone in an instant. The kind of thing that makes most people say, “If I only had a camera with me.” Well, I do have mine with me, and more often than not, I get the shot.
When I paint, I am completely absorbed in my work. I can travel to exotic places, sit in a beautiful garden, or maybe sunbath on a deserted beach.

Being born in Germany I was surrounded by the Woodcut Prints of Albrecht Durer, Kathie Kollwitz, Ernst Barlach, Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, and Franz Marc, just to name a few. As they did, I use special woodcut tools and shun electrical tools to stay true to the tradition.

“As an artist, the canvas is my mouthpiece. It speaks with vibrant colors, bold strokes, and whispers my secrets, shares my passions, and expresses emotions while taunting my sensibilities to grow and flourish confidently” — Cheryl Ehlers

OCTOBER: Artist Statement I create paintings using silk as my canvas. The brilliance of the color using silk dyes on luxurious silk is amazing. Every time I start a new painting it is breathtaking when the brush touches the silk and the dyes begin to flow. Every single piece I create is hand-painted on silk…
“I do not do art because I can, but because I must. As a tool of awareness, I am driven to record all the sights and sounds around me. Every art is a sister to every other art; all have the same elements and discipline. I choose to depict musical themes as it allows me to use the freedom of a loose expression on more than one level” — Beverly Bell
