Rose Rezaei

Artist’s Statement

My artistic practice is rooted in heartfelt expression, cultural awareness, and a deep sensitivity to material and subject. Working across coffee painting, oil, and watercolor, I explore identity, emotion, and beauty through both innovation and realism.

A central body of my work is a distinctive coffee painting collection, created exclusively with coffee on canvas, often in large-scale formats such as 30 x 40 inches. In this series, I portray women whose faces are intentionally hidden—shown from the back or concealed within the composition. These works speak to the difficulties faced by women around the world, with a particular emphasis on the lived realities of women in Iran. By choosing coffee as my sole medium, I embrace limitation as a creative force, allowing natural tones and textures to shape the narrative. The hidden face becomes a powerful symbol of restriction, resilience, and unspoken identity, inviting reflection on visibility, voice, and strength.

Artist’s Bio

Rose Rezaei is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in San Diego County, California, working in coffee, oil, and watercolor. She holds a Master’s degree in Anthropology, a background that strongly informs her artistic focus on culture, identity, and human experience. Rose earned Basic and Advanced Painting Certificates with Honors from the Technical and Vocational Art Academy and is an active member of the International Watercolor Society (IWS), the Spanish Village Art Center, the Southwestern Artists Association, and the North Coastal Art Gallery.

Rose is best known for her innovative coffee paintings, created entirely with coffee on canvas. The series portrays women whose faces are intentionally hidden, either turned away or concealed. These figures represent the strength and challenges of women around the world, with a particular reference to Iran. Rather than focusing on individual identity, the hidden face invites viewers to connect emotionally and personally with the work, making each piece both intimate and universal.

Coffee, as a medium, adds depth and authenticity. Its organic variations create warmth, subtle contrast, and a sense of timelessness that cannot be replicated with traditional paint. Each artwork is one-of-a-kind, reflecting patience, craftsmanship, and conceptual depth.

This award-winning collection (First Place, Abstract Show, October 2025) appeals to collectors who value innovation, cultural meaning, and emotional resonance. These works are not only visually striking but also carry a powerful narrative—making them meaningful, conversation-starting additions to private and public collections.

In addition to her coffee works, Rose produces hyper-realistic oil paintings of animals and flowers, as well as watercolor paintings portraying women, animals, and children. Her watercolor portraits, especially those capturing children’s smiles, reflect her belief in art as a heartfelt expression of sincerity, hope, and human connection. Since relocating to the United States in 2024, Rose continues to expand her artistic practice within the California art community.

I love to find and photograph that elusive image that is gone in an instant. The kind of thing that makes most people say, “If I only had a camera with me.” Well, I do have mine with me, and more often than not, I get the shot.
