Artist’s Statement

My strongest inspiration comes from Mother nature and its weathering influences on the shape of trees, rocks or seedpods, plants and animals both on land and underwater. Nature touches me, evoking desire for exploration. It sets me free and feeds my energy.

Working with clay has become vital part of my life.

Clay is a wonderful grounding medium. It’s capabilities are endless allowing to explore how touching the clay and adding different medium gives birth to unique sculptural compositions. It is fascinating to take something essentially flat and turn it into organic form with volume creating a synergy between layered color, texture and movement.

Artist’s Bio

Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, I always had a special interest in art, worked as a Marketing Director in the Museum of History of St. Petersburg (Peter & Paul Fortress) and with many well-known Russian artists.

While traveling all over the world I enjoyed learning about the richness of new cultures and art, meeting new people and observing their lives. One of the great strengths of art is that it crosses the border, fuses cultural differences and opens your mind. My art is truly international; it is inspired by diverse cultures and beauty of nature; it is the expression how I see the world.

I retired from my successful career in marketing and committed myself fully to the new form of artistic expression. Working with clay has become vital part of my life. I finished Advances ceramic courses in the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning in University of Cincinnati.

I also completed education in metalsmithing and Precious Metal Clay and have successful jewelry-making business.

After moving to San Diego in 2007, I became a member of Clay Artists of San Diego and Oceanside Museum of Art . I have displayed my work in many Regional and local exhibits, galleries and museum and my work has been featured in Fine Art publications.

I love to find and photograph that elusive image that is gone in an instant. The kind of thing that makes most people say, “If I only had a camera with me.” Well, I do have mine with me, and more often than not, I get the shot.

Art has been woven into my life since childhood, when my father would sit my siblings and me around the kitchen table with a bowl of fruit to paint. From those early sessions, I carried forward his love of art into a lifelong exploration of form, color, and expression.

Artist Statement I create paintings using silk as my canvas. The brilliance of the color using silk dyes on luxurious silk is amazing. Every time I start a new painting it is breathtaking when the brush touches the silk and the dyes begin to flow. Every single piece I create is hand-painted on silk with…
